Some players are wondering if they'll be able to play Halo Infinite on Xbox One.

343 Industries surprised its fan base by making the Halo Infinite multiplayer completely free to play on the franchise's 20th birthday earlier this week. The game released on Xbox One/Series S|X, and PC, but some players are still a bit confused on exactly where they'll be able to play. With the next-generation of consoles well in hand and in the homes of many, will popular 2021 titles feature compatibility with the previous generation?

Here's what we know about Halo Infinite and Xbox One.

Can You Play Halo Infinite on Xbox One?

Yes, you can play Halo Infinite multiplayer on Xbox One. While it was released with next-generation consoles in mind, Halo Infinite also features backward compatibility with the previous generation's Xbox One—as well Microsoft Windows PCs. Therefore, players should have no issue accessing the game on their previous-generation Xbox One.

Halo Infinite is currently a free addition to the Xbox Game Pass. Players who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass should be able to play the multiplayer version of the game completely free of charge on Xbox One through their Xbox Game Pass account.

Additionally, the game features cross-platform and cross-generational support, so players won't be locked into their specific platform community. Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC players will all be able to enjoy the Spartan life together.
