Gamers are confused on what it means when it says that their League of Legends Demotion Shield is expiring.

When a player is promoted into a new tier or division, they gain a special effect that is called a Demotion Shield. The Demotion Shield prevents players from dropping down a tier or division if they were to lose more games. The purpose of this immunity is to prevent gamers from being demoted due to a few unfortunate games.

So, what exactly does it mean when it says that the Demotion Shield is expiring?

League of Legends Demotion Shield Expiring: What Does it Mean?

When it says that the Demotion Shield is expiring, it's not a cause for concern. Simply, it's an indication that the Demotion Shield has expired and players can now be demoted.

Essentially, once that shield has expired, fans will be demoted to a lower tier if they lose a game at 0 League Points. After the demotion, players' LP will be set between 25 to 75, depending on how many losses they had. The more losses they had, the lower amount of LP they will be at.

Keep in mind that the Demotion Shield typically lasts for about three games after advancing a division and 10 games after advancing a tier. The only exception is the Master Tier, where everything is just three games.
