Gothita will be this week's featured Spotlight Hour Pokemon in Pokemon GO, sparking questions about its shiny chance.

Several Pokemon already singled out as "Halloween-themed" or similar have a pre-released shiny variant waiting and ready to go. According to Niantic Lab's explanation of its two-part Halloween event, more than half the featured Pokemon will be appearing with the chance to be shiny.

Here's what we know about shiny Gothita in Pokemon GO.

Shiny Gothita in Pokemon GO

No, Gothita cannot be shiny in Pokemon GO.

Gothita and its evolution family were originally released during the Psychic Spectacular in late March 2020. Since then, this Pokemon has been featured in several events, including two Incense Days, Fashion Week, and—for the first time—Halloween 2021. It originally debuted as part of the 2 k.m. egg group but has since moved to the 5 k.m. group.

Shiny Gothita may take a moment of extra study to tell apart from its typical color palette. The only thing that changes about it is its head, which becomes a pale pink rather than a pale purple. Its eyes will also shift from a bright cyan to a magenta.

Gothita is a pure psychic-type from the Unova region. Also known as the "Fixation" Pokemon, it tends to stare at a specific object for long periods of time, becoming "fixated" on it. Its PokeDex number is #574.

Trainers can evolve their Gothita into a Gothorita and then Gothitelle using 25 and 100 candies, respectively. As part of Spotlight Hour, trainers who participate will benefit from double the catch experience points from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
