Trainers want to know if Baltoy can be shiny ahead of its Spotlight Hour feature in Pokemon GO.

Baltoy is the star of Spotlight Hour this Tuesday, Sept. 14. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., trainers will be able to encounter this Pokemon in droves, potentially allowing dedicated trainers to find its shiny color palette. First, however, in order to catch a shiny Baltoy, trainers should know whether or not this Pokemon can actually be shiny in Pokemon GO.

How to Catch Shiny Baltoy in Pokemon GO

Yes, Baltoy can be shiny in Pokemon GO.

While Baltoy was released with the desert-themed Hoenn release in January 2020, its shiny form didn't see a release until that year's Psychic Spectacular in March.

Shiny Baltoy should be easy to tell apart from its normal color palette. Its main tan body takes on a more yellow hue and its red accents turn turquoise.

Thanks to tonight's Spotlight Hour, all trainers need to catch a shiny Baltoy is a bit of luck and some well-exercised patience. While the normal chance to catch a shiny Pokemon is pretty low, trainers can artificially boost their chances due to the frequency of spawn for the featured Pokemon.

Baltoy is a member of Generation III with a PokeDex number of 343. Also known as the "Clay Doll" Pokemon—potentially in reference to its evolved form, Claydol—it lives its entire life spinning on its one "foot" like a top. According to its PokeDex entry, images of this Pokemon living alongside humans have been found dating back centuries.

Trainers can evolve their Baltoy into Claydol using 50 candies.

Other Spotlight Hours this month include Spoink, Skitty, and Alolan Meowth. Every Pokemon caught during this week's event will offer twice the XP.
