Niantic Labs has released Jangmo-o, the latest dinosaur-looking dragon-type from Generation IIV, into its augmented reality title, Pokemon GO.

Several Pokemon have joined the roster of available species in Pokemon GO with the beginning of the game's next content season, the Season of Alola. From regional variants to starters and everything in between, trainers finally have the opportunity to sport their own Alolan pride by adding a member of the region's PokeDex to their team. Jangmo-o is one such Pokemon.

Jangmo-o in Pokemon GO

Trainers can encounter Jangmo-o in the following two ways:

  • Hatching it from 10 k.m. eggs.
  • Finding it in the wild

Obviously, both methods are time and labor-intensive as well as completely up to chance. There is no way to guarantee a Jangmo-o will hatch from an egg or appear while out adventuring. This doesn't mean trainers are entirely out of luck, however.

While this Pokemon is currently not available in its shiny form, this does imply that Niantic could be looking into a special reveal for its alternate palette. Trainers may find themselves on the receiving end of a shiny debut Community Day event or Spotlight Hour for Jangmo-o in the future.

Unfortunately, DBLTAP cannot confirm this—but we can certainly dream right along with you.

Also known as the Scaly Pokemon, Jangmo-o's most notable trait is its scales. It will smack its scales to express its emotions and can communicate with others of its species by smacking its scales into the ground. It grows gradually by dueling with other Jangmo-o.

Jangmo-o evolves into Hakamo-o, which becomes a dragon and fighting-type, by using 25 candies and then into Kommo-o using 100 candies.
